KRISTEN Stewart has reportedly been axed from the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel, which has now been turned into a spin-off starring just her co-star Chris Hemsworth.
The actress, 22, has been having a tough time lately after being caught cheating on Robert Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, and has been unceremoniously dumped from the upcoming movie.
Sanders has already left the sequel and now The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that Universal Pictures has decided to shelve the sequel altogether.
Instead, they will be making a spin-off which will focus on Chris Hemsworth’s character the Huntsman.
According to The LA Times, Universal claimed Kristen ‘could’ still appear in the movie but she will not be the lead character.
Universal said: ‘The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise.’
Writer David Keopp, who penned the first film, has left the project after being paid out of his contract to write the follow-up.
The Hollywood Reporter said: ‘According to sources, as the project is being transformed into something other than the movie that Koepp had been hired to write.’
Universal initially planned to make two films featuring Stewart’s Snow White and one focusing on Hemsworth’s Huntsman.
The spin-off is scheduled to start shooting in July 2013 after Hemsworth finishes work on Thor: The Dark World.
Sanders was banned from directing the sequel while Kristen was still attached by his wife Liberty Ross.
A source told Radar Online: ‘Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can’t direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.’ –Metro
