PPP to provide protection to Hindus, says Chandio



KARACHI  - Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Maula Bakhsh Chandio Tuesday said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will provide complete protection to the Hindu community. He was addressing a hurriedly called news conference at the PPP Media Cell Sindh here along with PPP MNAs, MPAs and the people belonging to minorities, said a press release issued from PPP Media Cell Sindh.The PPP leader said it was a wrong impression that members of a particular minority community were being kidnapped and they were migrating from Pakistan due to lack of security.He said it is a well-thought conspiracy to defame the country in the world. He said action would be taken against those people involved in such conspiracy.He said the PPP has been with the minorities and it has always been supported by minrities in elections.The minister said the PPP does not believe in any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or language.Maula Bakhsh Chandio said President Asif Ali Zardari has taken strict notice of the reports of the migration of Hindu families and constituted a Presidential committee in this regard.He said PPP’s central leadership had also convened an urgent meeting of minorities to resolve the matter, which was presided over by MNA Faryal Talpur.The minister said Hindu community has been living in Sindh for centuries and they are a peaceful community.He said the PPP has taken notice of the problems of the Hindu community and it would address them. The government would also bring necessary legislation in this regard, he added.The minister said the PPP leadership has decided that it will ensure implementation of employment quota allocated for minorities.He said it is the responsibility of the government to provide protection to minorities and it would provide them protection.The PPP leader said some opportunists wanted to use flood victims for gaining political mileage, but they failed. Now, he added, they want to achieve their political interests by propaganda on this issue, but once again the PPP has foiled their designs.MNAs Ramesh Lal, Ghulam Muhammad Shelani, Ijaz Jakhrani, Provincial Minister Diya Ram Serani, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, MPAs Patember Sehwani, Ayesha Khoso, Saira Shelani, Sardar Muhammad Odho, Hindu Minority Wing Jaccobabad President, and several other people belonging to minorities were present.
