LAHORE – PML-Q legislators have submitted an adjournment motion to the Punjab Assembly against alleged irregularities in the purchase of Rs440-million pricey lights for the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) without inviting open tenders.

PML-Q members Amir Sultan Cheema and Engineer Shahzad Elahi submitted the motion on Wednesday. While terming the purchase of Rs440-million pricey lights a sheer violation of the rules, they alleged that this practice would open doors for corruption.

They said the private sector was providing transportation services to the masses, while the provincial government had not shouldered even a single responsibility of the transport sector.

They added that commuters in Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Rawalpindi also needed better transport facilities but no attention was being paid to them.
