ISLAMABAD – Shab-e-Qadr is a highly virtuous night and it is found to be on the odd nights of last ten days (ashra) of Ramadan.
Shab-e qadar refers to the night of blessing. Among the nights of Ramadhan is one special night, which is better than a thousand months. Good deeds performed on that single night are equal to those performed over a thousand months.
Holy Quran was transferred on the holy heart of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in this night.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to strive hard during the last ten days of Ramazan. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did I’tikaaf during the last ten days of Ramadhan. Muslims often pray extra prayers on this night. They awake, pray, and hope Allah will give them anything they may desire on this night. Mostly, they perform tilawat and nawafil.
Allah, the Most Merciful, has encouraged the believers to take advantage of certain times during the year to offer prayers. Such an occasion presents itself annually during Ramazan, especially on the Lailatul Qadr, the Night of Power.
The sincere believer who worries day and night about his sins and phases of neglect in his life patiently awaits the onset of Ramazan.
During it he hopes to be forgiven by Allah for past sins, knowing that the Prophet promised (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that all who bear down during the last ten days shall have all their sins forgiven.
