Tareen condemns attack on PTI rally

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen Friday condemned the attack on PTI convoy in Gujranwala terming it a cowardly attempt to dent the Azadi March.
Addressing a press conference along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Chief Organizer Azadi March Saifullah Khan Naizi, Tareen alleged that PML-N MPA Pomi Butt was the main character in this attack.
He said that PTI will get a case registered against Pomi, adding the government should take a strict action against ‘Gullu Butt’ type people who are creating law and order situation.
Tareen said that the PTI workers would remain peaceful as the party has a track record of holding peaceful rallies in different cities of the country.
Responding to a question about the government claim the number of participants of the rally would be few thousands, he said the PTI tsunami has snatched from the government its peaceful sleep and it was a baseless propaganda.
He demanded immediate opening of all the roads and routes of the capital adding that participants of the protest march should be given full opportunity to exercise their democratic right.
The PTI leader said that the government has got panic seeing the response of the protest march. He said he himself saw a mob attacking PTI workers with stones from within a police vehicle.
Tareen said that PTI knew how to respond but it would not become part of a conspiracy, adding the authorities should not test their patience and take action against those involved in unlawful activities.
CM Khattak said that any such attack on PTI marchers would further complicate the situation, making it more difficult for the authorities to handle the situation. “It will become very difficult for the government if it does not rein in the people like Gullu Butt,” he added.
