ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday said that the whole nation wanted to see the ploy behind the massively rigged elections exposed and reiterated his stance to launch strong protest both within and outside the Parliament in this regard.

Talking to media at Parliament House and earlier after meeting former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the NAB Court Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif said that people from Khyber to Karachi were protesting the massive rigging in July 25 elections so in these circumstances how one could celebrate the Independence Day.

He sound optimistic about the release of Nawaz Sharif and his niece Maryam Nawaz and hoped that justice would prevail and they would celebrate Eid with the whole nation. Flanked by Kh. Asif and other party leaders, PML-N President asked the people to pray for the early release of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, adding the NAB court judge in his conviction order on page number 171 had clearly mentioned that no charges of corruption against Nawaz Sharif were found, so he was confident that their conviction would be nullified by the appellate bench.

To a question about the visible uneasiness among the joint opposition, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that they were committed to the decisions taken in the meeting of joint opposition and would fully support the joint opposition candidates for the elections of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

To another question Kh. Asif, standing besides Shehbaz Sharif, said that being the largest party on opposition benches they have the right to bring their candidate for the elections of Leader of House and subsequently would hold the slot of Leader of Opposition in the house.  To a question, he said that they would be attending the Parliament with black bands on their arms as they had also not accepted the massively rigged elections like the whole nation and would continue raising the issue at all available forums with full force.

Terming the July 25 elections as most controversial and rigged Shehbaz Sharif said that the anomalies and flaws in the elections were not only pointed out by the contesting candidates but the local and international media had also highlighted it. He said that in these circumstances how people of Pakistan could celebrate the Independence Day celebrations.

He grilled Election Commission of Pakistan for failing in its duties in holding the elections in free and fair fashion but they decided to come in Parliament only for cause of democracy and they had not given any approval to these massively rigged elections. Shehbaz Sharif said that following the 2013 general elections and demand of opening up of four constituencies the then PML-N-led government had constituted judicial commission which in its findings had found no major irregularity or rigging in the elections.

Now once again almost all the parties had raised serious reservations on the fairness of the elections even those sitting with the government on treasury benches had also dubbed the elections as massively rigged so they have to see how PTI leadership would satisfy the opposition parties on these charges and reservations.

To a question about what he termed the disgraceful treatment meted out to Nawaz Sharif PML-N President said that the three times prime minister of the country and the person who had made Pakistan into a nuclear power deserved much better treatment. But they were treating him like a terrorist and bringing him to court in APC just to humiliate and torture him.
