LAHORE - An Anti-corruption court on Wednesday acquitted 12 staffers of food department who were allegedly nominated for ruining 39000 wheat bags. According to details of the case, in 1996 due to heavy rains 39000 wheat bags were ruined. The Food Department in its internal inquiry had nominated District Food Controller Qalb-e-Abbas, Area Food Controller Shaki Butt, Inspectors Rana Mushtaq, Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Aslam, Zaheer, Shaukat, Tariq, Sarfraz and others for responsible of the loss to the Department. Counsel of the abovementioned accused argued that department high-ups had involved his clients deliberately. As prosecution also failed to prove the charges leveled against the accused. After hearing the final arguments of the both parties, on Wednesday the court acquitted all 12 accused of allegedly ruining the wheat bags.
