PESHAWAR - A division bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Wednesday issued arrest warrants of the General Manager (GM) of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL), its chief engineer and distribution in-charge for their failure to obey the orders of the court vis--vis ensuring uninterrupted flow of natural gas. The two-member bench comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah issued bailable arrest warrants of the SNGPL officials. The court was taking up a petition filed by one Tariq Khan against the SNGPL. He stated that the officials of the company illegally transferring gas meters of closed industries of Jamrud Industrial Estate and installed it to other running industries. It merits a mention here that on December 7, the PHC allowed the petition of 28 petitioners and directed SNGPL to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to the consumers of the province from the wellheads situated in the province. During fresh hearing, Justice Dost Muhammad observed that the facts bespoke about some serious foul play of the senior officers, managing the department. Therefore, taking this case to the conclusion, we summoned the GM and all senior officers of SNGPL, Peshawar, however, despite many efforts made by their standing counsel and even by the office of deputy attorney general, all avoided to appear, he said. The court ordered the station house officer of Hayatabad Police Station to personally serve the warrant and if this time all these officials did not turn up, they should be produced before the court handcuffed. The case was adjourned for December 21.
