LAHORE - Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said the growers problems will be solved on priority basis so that maximum targets of wheat as well as other agri-products could be acquired as the agriculture is the backbone of our national economy. The provincial government will provide every possible facility to the farmers and will safeguard the interests of growers and will not tolerate their exploitation, assured this, while presiding over a meeting of Committee on wheat release policy held here on Wednesday. Minister for Agriculture Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretary Agriculture, Food and Finance besides high ranking officials of concerned departments attended the meeting. The committee would finalise recommendations regarding wheat release 2010-11 and submit to CM Punjab for approval. The Committee also reviewed the quantum of wheat release and formed a sub committee headed by Chairman P&D and Secretary Finance & Food would be members, whereas, the committee would finalise the recommendation regarding inland LC and other matters. The committee decided to maintain the present wheat price for wheat release for one month.
