OUR STAFF REPORTERS KARACHI/LAHORE - Islamabad batsmen sent Karachi Blues on leather hunt on the second day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division I match when they raced to big first innings total of 301 for six at the close of the days play in the four-day contest here on Thursday at the National stadium. Earlier in the morning Karachi Blues first innings lasted for 33 balls before it folded at 264 all out adding 13 more runs to their total. Nasarullah captured four for 66 and Naqqash Basharat and Shahzad Azam took two wickets each in host teams innings. Islamabad started its first innings about an hour before lunch on the second day and in 75 available overs they crossed total of 300. Afaq Rashim contributed highest 94 to the team total laced with 13 fours. Imdad Wasim 60 and Zohaib Ahmed 66 were other main contributors. Azam Hussain got 3/66 while Tanvir Ahmed had 2/50. Islamabad has got 37 runs lead and if they could stretch that advantage close to hundred, the visiting team could go for a possible win overt the hoist. HBL on top against PIA: Ahmed Shahzad and Hassan Raza played superb knocks in the second innings for Habib Bank to reach 245/6 at stumps against Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on the second day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division-I match at LCCA Ground on Thursday. Habib Bank bowled the all airmen in 48.4 overs as PIA resumed their first innings with 134-6. Danish Kaneria along with Fahad Masood and Sarmad Ahmed destroyed the bankers batting line up and restricted them to 184 runs. Habib Bank were on 245-6 at close of the day in 63 overs.
