ISLAMABAD SBP Governor Yaseen Anwar on Thursday gave away the 5th PCP Corporate Philanthropy Awards to companies that are actively engaged in contributing to social development in the country. The award distribution ceremony was organised by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) at a local hotel, says a press release. Attendees included leading businessmen, senior government officials, civil society representatives, donors and media. He complemented the business sector for its active engagement in social development initiatives and stated that the figure of Rs 3.3 billion contributed in in-cash philanthropy, for the year 2010. Dr Shamsh Lakha, Chairman PCP Board in his welcome address, shared that the annual event, in pursuance of the Centres philanthropy agenda, hopes to lend impetus to companies to move forward with greater devotion to meet the social responsibility campaign.
