RAWALPINDI - An anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Monday declared Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri a proclaimed offender (PO) and issued his immediate arrest warrants in a case of attacking, injuring and kidnapping policemen by PAT activists during a protest demonstration at Lillah Interchange in September last.

ATC Special Judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum declared Qadri as PO and ordered police to arrest him immediately and present before the court along with case record. The judge had ordered the police to display the copy of court orders at the house of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and in court.

Earlier, a case (124/14) was registered against Qadri and 119 other activists of his party under sections 7 ATA, 324/365-B/395 with Police Station Lillah on charges of arson, dacoity, attacking, injuring and kidnapping policemen. The PAT workers had gathered at Lillah Interchange and staged a protest demonstration on Qadri’s call. The workers allegedly attacked and injured police officials, after which they were arrested and charged under 7 ATA.

PAT Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is currently in the United States for medical treatment. Earlier, on September 12 the ATC issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Qadri and 95 other leaders and workers.Dr Qadri along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan has also been declared proclaimed offenders by a court of law.
