KASUR/SHEIKHUPURA - A suspected outlaw was killed by the firing of his accomplices in Kasur while another was killed in crossfire with police in Sheikhupura here on Tuesday.

Kasur DPO Ali Nasir Rizvi said that Ganda Singh Wala Police SHO along with a team was busy snap-checking at Churi Wala Pul. The police spotted nine suspected persons, riding three motorcycles and tried to stop them. However, instead they resorted to indiscriminate firing and ran away towards Kasur. The Ganda Singh Wala SHO aired a call for effective picketing to mobile vans of all nearby police stations to intercept the fleeing suspects. In the meanwhile, a police party came across the accused near Sandha Phattak on Ferozpur Road in the remit of Ganda Singh Wala. On seeing the police, the suspects started firing after taking positions. The police retaliated and crossfire ensued. When the firing subsided, the police stepped forward and found one of the suspects injured by the firing of his accomplices.

The DPO said that the injured was shifted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Later, the deceased was identified as Khurram Naveed alias Khurrami Meo who was involved in about 15 cases of heinous crime registered at different police stations of Kasur. The police recovered a motorcycle and one double barrel gun from the dead accused.

In Sheikhupura, a robber wanted by the police was killed in crossfire with police here on Tuesday.

The shootout took place on Faisalabad Road in Manawala when the police approached a robber engaged in looting passersby at gunpoint.

In the crossfire, the robber was killed and his body was shifted to hospital for post-mortem.
