Etihad wins ‘world’s leading airline’ award
LAHORE (PR): Etihad Airways has crowned a momentous 2015 by collecting the coveted ‘World’s Leading Airline’ award for the seventh consecutive year at the annual World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2015. Event was held before an audience of the industry’s leading luminaries and international mediaat the exclusive Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, located in the Atlantic port city of El Jadida in Morocco.
The airline added to its winning streak by also picking up the awards for ‘World’s Leading First Class’, ‘World’s Leading Inflight Entertainment’, and ‘World’s Leading Cabin Crew’.
The quartet of awards ends a remarkable year of achievement for the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, which included the entry into service of its flagship Airbus A380s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners, boasting the world’s most innovative and highly customisedcommercial aircraft cabins, newly designed products and inflight services, and the introduction of its new livery and uniform.

Meezan Bank, LUMS ink MoU
KARACHI (PR): Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s largest Islamic Bank, and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan’s leading private university with international repute, recently announced the signing of a MoU that will help foster the learning and development of Islamic banking and finance across the country.
The MoU focuses on robust collaboration on various joint activities including development and launch of training programs on Islamic Banking and finance, co-authorship of case studies and research papers, and participation of Meezan Bank employees as guest speakers in executive programs at LUMS.

SPECTRA-15 at IIUI
ISLAMABAD (PR): An Intra-University Super colossal event “SPECTRA-15” kicked off here at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Monday. SPECTRA-15 would continue till December 16 (today). Students are taking part in documentaries, debates, sports, essay writing, calligraphy, Qiraat, Naat and many other competitions.
The event is being organized by the students’ advisor office of the university which commenced with an inaugural ceremony here at male campus.
Dr Muhammad Munir Vice President Higher Studies and Research, was the chief guest who termed the SPECTRA as mega event while saying that such constructive activities are necessary for the grooming of students. He said that curricular and extracurricular activities are the sign of talented youth at any campus. He also felicitated the organizers on conducting successful event.
“SPECTRA-15 is aimed at providing a platform to all competitive and confident students of IIUI for curricular and extracurricular activates and to prepare participants for Twin city and All Pakistan Competitions” said Dr. Hafiz Abid Masood, the Students Advisor (male). He added that the event would help students to polish their skills and showcase talent and potential. He reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing opportunities to its talented youth.
“I am participating in chess competition and table tennis and I am all set to win the competitions” said excited students Rohban.

Samsung helps quake-hit

LAHORE (PR): Samsung Electronics is undertaking a generous humanitarian activity in Pakistan, to provide shelter to thousands of people, who have lost their valuable homes, properties and livelihood, due to the recent earthquake catastrophe in the northern parts of the country. Samsung has donated 300 water-proof and snow-proof tents to “Sarhad Rural Support Programme” (SRSP) in Peshawar, to help in the rehabilitation of the earthquake victims in KPK.
These tents, provided by Samsung Electronics, are being distributed in Dir and Chitral districts, in response to the devastating earthquake that recently hit Pakistan, and left thousands of families homeless. This compassionate gesture by Samsung comprises of valuable support to the SRSP, which is the largest Non-Government Organization for poverty alleviation in North-West Pakistan.

Lee stated that; “Being a socially-responsible corporate citizen of Pakistan, Samsung has always remained at the forefront of responding to the challenges faced by the country. Hascol fuel retail facility

Islamabad (PR): Lt Gen Khalid Asghar, HI(M), Engineer-in-Chief, (Pakistan Army) inaugurated Hascol’s newly reconstructed and contemporary fuel retail facility at Chakri South on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) here. The chief guest was accompanied by Maj Gen Muhammad Afzal (HI)M, Director General, FWO and Engr Salman Qaisrani, Director BOT, FWO, Chairman Hascol, Mumtaz Hasan Khan and Chief Operating Officer Hascol, Saleem Butt, along with other FWO and MORE dignitaries and Senior HPL management.
Hascol Petroleum Limited has the exclusive rights of retail fuel sales on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway since the company took over the 10 sites from MORE in the first quarter of 2015. HPL’s monopolistic presence on the M-2 in terms of fuel retailing has strengthened the company’s backbone to broaden its network and has given the Hascol brand a remarkable boost in Central Punjab along with encouraging the company’s sales volume and profitability. The company has gone an extra mile by introducing the concepts of Quality Assurance van and standby ambulances for the motorway travellers, an initiative which is first of its kind by any OMC. ‘Pakistan on its way to digital revolution’

Honorary consulate of Latvia
ISLAMABAD (PR): The honorary consulate of Latvia was inaugurated in the federal capital recently. The ceremony was hosted at the consulate by Chaudhry Iftikhar Rasul Ghuman, who was formally appointed as the honorary consul of the mission by Latvian Foreign Ministry. The inauguration was announced with ribbon-cutting by the Foreign Minister of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, who also hoisted the Latvian flag alongside the honorary consul, and the European Union Ambassador.
The occasion was also graced by the Latvian Ambassador to Pakistan, excellences from various European, Asian, North and South American, and Gulf states including the USA, UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, Greece, Belarus, Hungary, Ukraine, Turkey, China, North Korea, Argentina, and Kuwait, and also other notables of Pakistan.
