KHYBER AGENCY - The security forces claimed to have killed eight militants and injured eight others in airstrikes conducted by the fighter jets on Tuesday in Rajgal and Saperay areas of Tirah Valley in Khyber Agency.

In a statement issued to media, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that fighter jets pounded suspected hideouts of the militants and inflicted on them heavy losses. Scores of sanctuaries were also demolished in the bombardment. However the casualties could not be confirmed.

The troops had launched a purge operation - Khyber Two - in Tirah Valley to wipe out militants from the area.

Meanwhile, 15 suspects were arrested by the security forces in a search operation carried out here at Bacha Mena in Torkham, the bordering area of tehsil Landikotal on Monday night.

An official, confirming the operation and arrests made, said during door to door search operation 15 suspects were detained and sent to cantonment for further investigation.

During the operation, the Pak-Afghan border was sealed for two hours for all kind of movements, sources in the Khasadar Forces said.
