Hundreds of citizens, students and public servants rallied here to pay tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar on anniversary of the incident being observed on Wednesday (today).

The rally begun from Qila Qasim Bagh and the participants marched through Lohari Gate, Ghantha Ghar and Kutchery road up to Chowk Kutchery. The marchers were led by Multan Additional Collector Manzar Javed.

The participants of the rally chanted slogans against the terrorists and demanded death sentence for them.

The participants observed that despite lapse of about one year, the wounds of Peshawar tragedy were still fresh, demanding the government to promote education to defeat extremism. They also paid glowing tributes to the soldiers of the country’s armed forces, saying they sacrificed their today to protect our tomorrow. They demanded the general public to line up against terrorists.

Speaking on this occasion, the Additional District Collector Manzar Ali Javed said that the Punjab Government organized events like this rally to express solidarity with the families of martyred children. He said the rally participants conveyed a message to terrorists that their days were numbered. He said the Operation Zarab-e-Azab would continue till complete success.

Nation United To Uproot Terrorism

DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal has said that entire nation is committed to uproot terrorism from the country and our brave security forces will hunt down handful terrorists very soon.

Addressing the participants of a painting competition held here at Multan Tea House in connection with martyrdom day of Peshawar tragedy, he added that the enemy laid siege to Pakistan but our security forces foiled all conspiracies against the motherland.

He said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb broke the backbone of the terrorists. He said that activities to commemorate the martyrs of Peshawar were underway across the province on direction of the provincial government to disseminate a clear message to the enemy that Pakistanis were an alive nation.

Later on, the DCO distributed prizes and certificates among the winners of the competition.

Top cop renews pledge to NAP


The district police have been adhered strictly to the National Action Plan and all-out efforts are being made to achieve all the targets set under the plan.

Speaking at a seminar held to pay tribute to martyrs and commemorate the APS Peshawar tragedy at Police Lines, DG Khan DPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken described that it was a horrible and unforgettable terrorist attack. “The sacrifices of martyrs of APS Peshawar have proved that terrorists are enemies of humanity,” he stated.

In his speech, Army Capt Haq Nawaz said that elimination of terrorism from the country is the first and foremost priority of the government and the armed forces are committed to fighting them to the end. “The public should improve security arrangements and inform the police about suspicious persons to prevent any untoward incident,” he underscored.

MPA Najma Arshad said that students of Army Public School Peshawar had proved that even kids of the nation are not afraid of terrorists and sacrificed their lives for its glory. “The nation is proud of them for their bravery and courage and that they have set example for the generations to come,” she pointed out.

On the occasion, students of the Police Educators Public School DG Khan paid rich tribute to the young martyrs of APS Peshawar through national songs and beautiful performances during tableaus.
