islamabad - The Islamabad High Court yesterday reserved its verdict in a petition challenging the appointment of Chaudhary Kabeer Ahmed as managing director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC).

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi conducted the hearing of the petition and reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments of both sides. Earlier, the court had sought replies from the principal secretary to the prime minister and others on a petition challenging the appointment of Managing Director (MD) PTDC Kabir Ahmad Khan and directed them to produce the relevant record about his appointment.

The petition was filed by Chaudhry Tanvir, who adopted in the petition that the appointment of a retired bureaucrat as MD was in violation of rules which also deprived serving bureaucrats from being appointed on the seat. Therefore, he requested the court to declare the appointment as null and void.

On Tuesday, the court asked from the PTDC counsel Raja Saimul Haq Satti and Additional Advocate General Raja Khalid about the relevant record and advertisement of the post in the newspapers.

However, both the counsels failed to satisfy court in this connection. Then, the court reserved its verdict in this matter which would be announced later.
