Islamabad - The Chinese authorities on Thursday formally handed over F-9 Park Solar Lighting Project to the locals as a gift from the People’s Republic of China.

Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar was the chief guest at the handing-over ceremony here at F-9 Park.  Sun Weidong, the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China and Anser Aziz, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA were also present on the occasion.

The finance minister congratulated the citizens of Islamabad, Chinese government and Chairman CDA on completion of the solar power project in Fatima Jinnah Park in F-9 sector.

He thanked the Chinese government for grant assistance of 33.1 Million Renminbi (US$ 4.8 Million) for establishing the project which has an installed capacity of 0.85 MW.  The minister also appreciated the efforts of the Capital Development Authority for timely completion of the project.

The finance minister said that projects like CPEC which have 34 billion dollars for energy projects and another 6 billion dollars for the development of Gwadar Port are an excellent example of the friendship between Pakistan and China.

“The current project is yet another example of good relations both the countries have for decades”, he said. The minister also said that the government of PML-N has a firm resolve to end load shedding by the end of year 2017, to fulfil this ambition, the government has been actively working on projects that will contribute almost 27000 MW in the National Grid in the years to come.

The finance minister also urged the Capital Development Authority to work hard on improving civic facilities for the citizens of Islamabad.
