KASUR/MULTAN - Three robbers including a proclaimed offender were killed in two shootouts occurred separately here on Thursday.

In Kasur, a notorious accused was killed allegedly by the firing of his accomplices here on Thursday.

According to police, a citizen who introduced himself as Khalid Mehmood, made a call on 15 regarding snatching of his motorcycle and Rs3,000 by three unidentified accused, riding a motorcycle near Kailo, in the remit of Kasur Saddr Police. Responding promptly, the police rushed the scene and started chasing the accused. Following the message through wireless, the Khudian Police established a picket near Khudian bypass and started snap-checking. In the meanwhile, the police spotted three suspects, riding two motorcycles and attempted to stop them. But the suspects, instead, resorted to indiscriminate firing and went into nearby fields while continuing firing from different direction. The police also retaliated. When the firing stopped, the police went forward, they found one of the suspects injured who got injured by the firing of his accomplices. The injured was later identified as Saleem alias Lado who had been involved in more than 34 cases of heinous crimes in Lahore and Kasur districts. The police claimed that the dacoit was a proclaimed offender and was shifted to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The police recovered a pistol and the snatched motorcycle from the scene. The police have launched a search for the fleeing accused. In Multan, two robbers were killed and two others managed to escape the scene after shootout with police here on Thursday. According to police, acting on a tip-off, the police approached a four-member gang, fleeing after committing a robbery near bypass. The outlaws, however, started firing on the policemen which they retaliated. Resultantly two robbers were killed in crossfire and their two accomplices managed to escape.

The police also recovered weapons and looted valuables from the possession of the killed robbers and shifted the dead bodies to Nishtar Hospital for post-mortem.
