LAHORE -  Young doctors continued to stay away from OPDs of major hospitals across the province including Lahore yesterday to press for the demand of withdrawal of central induction policy for PG trainees.

On the other hand, the government tried its best to provide healthcare facilities at OPDs with the help of seniors under police protection. The Health department deputed officials to monitor working of OPDs. Absence of young doctors, however, hampered service delivery at OPDs.

The YDA has announced continuing strike at OPDs till acceptance of demands.

Terming the strike a failure, officials said the majority of young doctors have rejected the call of a group and provided treatment to thousands of patients across the province. They said that OPDs remained open and 42604 patients were treated at 22 hospitals.
