BEIJING -  Pakistan ambassador to China Masood Khalid hosted a reception in honour of visiting Pakistani youth delegation here at Pakistani embassy in Beijing on late Thursday night.

The 100-member Pakistani delegation was led by Syed Junaid Akhlaq, while Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General administration Mansoor Ahmed Khan along with 45 top athletes, media persons and other members, along with embassy staff, were also present during the grand reception.

In his welcome address, Masood Khalid said: “It is a wonderful occasion and I feel very honoured to welcome top Pakistani athletes, who had won laurels for the country at various national and international competitions. I am also delighted to see such a large size of female representation in the delegation, which shows that Pakistan is a sports-loving country. It is also great to know that the delegation comprises representatives from all the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Fata, AJK and far-flung areas of Pakistan.

“Chinese are very close friends of Pakistan and they really care about us. It is my strong suggestion to all the athletes that they should closely follow the instructions given to them by the top Chinese athletes, coaches and trainers, as they are ruling the sports world and ready to dislodge USA from number one sports nation,” he added.

He asked the delegation to reciprocate the same respect, love and hospitality, which is being given to them by Chinese. “It is a great opportunity for our athletes to learn how Chinese train their present and future stars. It is good to know that the delegation visited Beijing Sports University, where they were given detailed briefing by top Chinese coaches. I am sure our athletes have observed a number of positives and they will utilize these things in near future to the best of their capabilities.”

Masood feels that these exchange programmes should continue and further expand. “I am sure now it’s Pakistan’s turn to invite Chinese delegation based on athletes and sports personalities and show them the facilities and training programmes in Pakistan. We can take help from China in different sporting fields and in exchange, we can offer them our expertise in hockey, squash, wrestling and boxing. China has worked so hard to be able to challenge the supremacy of USA and soon they will overtake them.

He said both the countries are working on a number of projects including the most sought after CPEC project, which will bring revolution and take Pakistan-China friendship to new levels. He rubbished the claims that China is better beneficiary of CPEC and hefty profits are being made by Chinese investors. “The matter of the fact is that Chinese are taking very low profits and helping Pakistan, just like we helped them in 60s.” In the end, DDG Administration Mansoor Ahmed Khan presented souvenir to Masood Khalid.
