Rawalpindi - Workers of religious and political parties, traders, teachers, lawyers and members of civil society on Friday carried out scores of protest rallies in different parts of the city to condemn the decision of US President Donald Trump to declare Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

The protestors were carrying placards and banners mentioning slogans in favour of Palestine and against America and Israel. They also chanted slogans against US President and demanded withdrawal of controversial decision.

Police following the instructions of City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi devised a comprehensive security plan to shield the protestors and to maintain law and order situation in the city.

A protest rally was taken out by District Peace Committee and traders union from Markazi Jamia Masjid Hanfia Jamia Masjid Road to Fawara Chowk.

The rally was led by Zonal Khateeb Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal Rizvi while participated by Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Nasim, MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, ex-MNAs Haji Pervaiz, Malik Shakil Ahmed Awan, PML-N President Sardar Mumtaz Khan Paswal, traders representative Malik Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Sheikh Muhammad Siddique, Tahir Taj Bhatti, Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, DPC  members Khalid Mehmood, Maulana Syed Izhar Hussain Bukhari and many others.

Addressing the protestors, the speakers asked the USA to withdraw its decision of declaring Jerusalem as capital of Israel or else Muslim Umah would broad its protest. They said Muslim Umah would not accept America-Israel nexus and would not hesitate to render any kind of sacrifice for freedom of Jerusalem from the clutches of Israel.

Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Nasim predicted America would divide into pieces because of erroneous policies of Donald Trump. He said no body could occupy Al-Quds as Muslims are the custodian of the sacred place. He appreciated Turkish President Recipe Tayyip Erdogan for organising OIC session to condemn Trump’s decision. “We throw the decision of Trump in a dustbin,” he said.  

In Chuhur Harpal, a protest demonstration was also staged by Allama Shahid Ghafoor Masnoor Chishti, Mufti Allah Bakash Chishti, Qari Bashir Awan and many others while denouncing the controversial decision of American president.

The speakers said America always hatched conspiracies against Islam and Muslims while the rulers of Muslim countries did nothing to bar it from such evil activities. They urged Muslim rulers to forge unity among their ranks to avoid American evil designs.

A protest demonstration was also held by JUI-F leader Pir Abdul Shakoor Naqashbandi at Bhatta Chowk.

Earlier a protest rally was also taken out by the protestors. Pir Abdul Shakoor Naqashbandi, while speaking to protestors, urged America to reverse its anti-Islam’s decision.
