SHEIKHUPURA (APP) - Seven persons were killed and two others sustained bullet injuries when four dacoits opened fire at a car and two wagons near Dheer Dey More, Gujranwala Road on Sunday. DSP city Tariq Zaffar Gujjar said that a trader Nadeem Butt of Faisalabad along with five persons including his gunmen was taking five kg gold worth millions of rupees by a car to Gujranwala. When they reached near Dheer Dey More, four dacoits riding in another car opened fire at them in a bid to intercept them. As a result, five car riders identified as Amjad Ali driver, Tahir, Idrees and two gunmen Muhammad Amjad and Asgar Ali died on the spot while gold trader Nadeem Butt received serious bullet injuries. In the meantime, the drivers of two wagons which were coming behind the car tried to intervene in the dacoity attempt, upon which, the outlaws opened fire at them killing them on the spot while a minor boy riding in a wagon received bullet injuries. The drivers were identified as Muhammad Rafi and Anayatullah. The dacoits managed their good escape. Local police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to a hospital in a police vehicle. Police have taken the gold into custody. DPO Sheikhupura, Usama Mumtaz Raja has ordered to cordon off the district and constituted police teams to arrest the culprits.
