BAHAWALPUR - PPP district Secretary Information Muhammad Saleem Bhatti has said that the Prime Minister’s appearance in Supreme Court shows that the government believes in supremacy of constitution and rule of law.

While talking to the members of the People’s Lawyers Forum at District Bar, he said that the nation had appreciated Gillian’s stance in the court. He said the government was following constitutional parameters and hopefully all institutions would remain in their respective domains.

He maintained that the PPP also believed in the supremacy of parliament. He said the political stability and democratic system was necessary to pull the country out of crises.

Saleem Bhatti said the PPP and allied parties would get majority seats in Senate scheduled election next month under the auspicious leadership of President Zardari. Bhatti said that religious parties were agitating on non issues regarding Nato supplies as Parliament would decide about the future logistic and defence cooperation with International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Nato forces in Afghanistan.

“The matter is under discussion in the Parliament while the Prime Minister has also given a policy statement on the issue,” District PLF President Malik Shafqat Mehmood Advocate, Akhtar Hashmi Advocate, Azam Langrial Advocate, Asif Bhara Advocate, Punjab Bar Council members Tahir Mufti Advocate, Mian Falak Sher Advocate, District Bar Association vice president Syed Hashim Raza Advocate were among others at the occasion.
