SC sets aside LHC verdict

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside the Lahore High

Court’s verdict regarding the Punjab Education Department class-IV employees’ appointment and

asked the LHC, Bahawalpur bench, for decision on their cases afresh in accordance with law and in

view of the observations made by the apex court.
The Supreme Court also directed the LHC to hear

cases of all the 480 employees of Punjab Education Department individually and decide their matter on

merit.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprised

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez heard the cases of Class-IV Punjab Education

department employees from Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Chishtian and Rahimyar Khan against the

Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur Bench judgment passed in Intra Court Appeals on July 12, 2011.
