LAHORE - Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Greg Giokas on Friday urged the Pakistani exporters to take advantage of the tariff cut Canada has very recently implemented as is a big opportunity that should be tapped.Canadian High Commissioner Greg Giokas, who was accompanied by Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan Glenn V Davidson and Head of Domestic and Public Affairs Ms Anjali Lowe was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Friday. LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, Executive Committee Members Mian Zahid Javaid, Nasir Saeed, Mohammad Akram and Nabeela Intisar also spoke on the occasion. The High Commissioner said that Canada is desirous of increasing its bilateral trade and investment in Pakistan to boost the economy. He said that there are a number sectors where huge potential for cooperation exists. He said that Livestock and Agriculture are the two areas in which cooperation could lead to a win-win situation for the two countries.Education and economic development are key components for Pakistani competitiveness in a globalize economy. Canada welcomes the improvement of economic and political relations between Pakistan and India which are critical to regional security and the economic future of Pakistan, he added.Canada, he said, pursued a broad range of interests in the context of bilateral relations with Pakistan including trade and investment, development cooperation, people-to-people links, regional security and defence, governance and human rights.
