Man ‘sets’ wife on fire


LAHORE – A man set ablaze his wife over a domestic dispute in Nishtar Colony, said her parents on Friday. The condition of woman was reported to be serious at a hospital.
However, police are also investigating on the ground if the woman, identified as Margaret, attempted suicide after a clash with her husband Babar Masih.
The parents of the victim alleged that their son-in-law set her on fire by sprinkling kerosene oil on her.
Locals told the police that clashes between the couple over domestic issues had become a routine matter for the last several months. Further investigations were underway.
BURNT ALIVE: A 22-year-old man burnt alive after a fire broke out in an Old Kahna house. Firefighters suspected that the fire erupted due to short-circuit.
The deceased, identified as Arshad Masih, was sleeping in the bedroom when the tragedy took place. The rescuers retrieved the body after extinguishing the fire. The police are investigating.
Accidents: Three people were killed in road accidents in different parts of the provincial metropolis, police and rescue workers said.
Ashraf Masih, a resident of Green Town, was crossing a road when a van hit him from the rear side near Chungi Amarsidhu in the Liaqatabad police precincts. The father of five was rushed to hospital where he died.
The driver along with the van managed to escape from the crime scene. The police are investigating. In another accident, a 25-year-old youth was crushed to death by a truck in the Ravi Road police limits. Police said that the man, unidentified so far, was crossing the road when a recklessly driven truck ran over him, resulting in his on-the-spot death. The driver along with the truck fled away.
Meanwhile, another man was killed when a truck ran over him in the jurisdiction of Garden Town police. The man, yet to be identified, was going to Barkat Market from Kalma Chowk when the truck of a private construction company hit him, according to rescue workers. The police are investigating.
