ISLAMABAD - After making many unsuccessful attempts to remove the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Director General (DG) who was appointed on the Supreme Court orders, the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development has decided to constitute a separate directorate for colleges.The notification for the purpose was issued here on Thursday to take powers from the incumbent DG but on the reaction of employees the ministry has been considering to take it back.The notification says, “as a result of re-organisation, Islamabad Model Colleges and FG Colleges Wings are detached from the Federal Directorate of Education, Islamabad with immediate effect. Eleven Islamabad Model Colleges (former FG Colleges) and 20 Islamabad Model Colleges are placed under the administrative control of newly created Federal Directorate of Colleges (FDC), which will work under M/o Capital Administration and Development Islamabad.”It also says that a committee will be constituted under the Secretary Ministry of CAD for re-organisation of institute, distribution of assets and liabilities and all issues related to the re-organised institution. However, spokesperson of the ministry and Joint Education Advisor Rafique Tahir maintained the ministry would hold an inquiry how the notification was leaked out as it’s been held in abeyance and the status quo has been maintained. He said that the notification was issued mistakenly and a better notification will be issued after a week.Though the ministry was considering to separate the colleges from FDE and affiliate them with a university, but it will be managed in a better way and this notification will not be implemented, he added.
