RAWALPINDI - Special Public prosecutor of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Chaudhry Azhar, on Saturday told a trial court, which is hearing PPP former premier Benazir Bhutto murder case, that he would recuse himself from the high profile case if he was not provided proper security .
“I am facing security threats while Punjab government has called back the police officials deputed for my security without telling me. If situation remains so, I will not pursue the case,” said Azhar.   
Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi Number 1 Special Judge Pervaiz Ismail Joya heard BB assassination case in Adyala Jail. The court adjourned the hearing till 22nd February 2014 while reissuing the notices to two prosecution witnesses.  The defence lawyers have cross-examined four prosecution witnesses in the case on Saturday.
According to details, Special Judge Joya took up BB murder case during which the defence lawyers cross-examined the four prosecution witnesses. Owing to absence of two lawyers, the court issued summons to two prosecution witnesses again ordering them to appear before the court on the next date of hearing.
Former City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Saud Aziz, SP Rawal Town Khurram Shehzad, former President and military dictator General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Javed Safdar, FIA Special Public prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar and defence lawyers were also present in the courtroom.
After the hearing, FIA Special Public prosecutor , while talking to media men, said that he was contesting a high profile case on behalf of the state. He said that his colleague former FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar was killed by terrorists. After the incident, he said, he was provided with security on the directions of Interior Ministry but the police cops guarding him were called back by the government.
He added that a total of four policemen were assigned the task to guard his house in Sialkot but three out of four were removed after which he was facing great threat. He demanded of the government to provide him proper security .
