Merely acknowledging, talking about and celebrating Sindh heritage, culture and values is not enough. It’s more imperative to practice the values, defend the values and live the values if we are meant to build our national pride. I vividly remember one of my mentors (late) Imdad Hussain Sheikh from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, who used to say that our Indus Civilization values are that ‘we see no evil; hear no evil; speak no evil’, ‘preach and practice no evil’ he would add and respect human dignity and  make every effort to protect life and property.

Unfortunately, nowadays, more or less, all of the above mentioned noble values of Sindh civilization are waning. There is no exaggeration in saying that these values have almost vanished from the lives of our ruling elite as well as the common man. That’s why, sufferings and degradation of human talent in Sindh province goes unabated. However, the recent decision of the provincial government to launch operation against dacoits in the upper Sindh, particularly, in Larkana division, really augurs well. It would also help greatly if action was taken against the merciless feudal lords, pirs, politicians, tribal chiefs, among others, who help and harbour such gangs of dacoits in the province. Is there anyone to give good governance, rule of law, peace and progress to Pakistan?
