KHANEWAL

DCO Khawar Kamal while taking notice of a news item published in a national daily against mismanagement and violation of merit, issued show cause notice to EDO Education Rao Shahid Mehood and forwarded his case to the Punjab Education Secretary with the advice that services of the EDO are no more required by the district government Khanewal.

The DCO also issued show cause notice to District Monitoring officer (DMO) Sohaib Iqbal.

The report published in Daily The Nation pinpointed mismanagement and violation of merit in preparation of merit lists. The EDO and DMO also violated merit policy of the education department and provincial government and did not arrange evaluation forms for the candidates of ESE, SESE & SSE educator teacher who were called for interviews held from February 11 to 14, 2015, in government girls model high school and government boys model high school Khanewal.

The Khanewal DCO in the show cause notice no admin-1-2(4)1635-37 put up three allegations on the EDO Education and DMO Khanewal: No.1, The school premises were too congested to accommodate thousands of candidates and their parents. Resultantly, they faced extreme hardships. No-2, a few counters/desks were established to entertain/guide thousands of candidates. No-3, evaluation form were un-arranged and the candidates were misguided and unnecessarily asked to visit the office of the DCO. The DCO has asked both officers to explain their position within two days as why the competent authority may not be moved for disciplinary action against them on account of criminal negligence, inefficiency and misconduct.

Similarly, in a same letter, the DCO has endorsed to the Punjab education Secretary, to withdraw the EDO education Rao Shahid Mehmood from district Khanewal as he was no more required to the district government.

The candidates for Educator Teachers and their parents alleged that names of thousands of candidates were still missed in the merit list intentionally by the EDO education, his staff member including Steno Muhammad Sadiq, junior clerk Azhar Jaffery, junior clerk Muhammad Ashraf, senior clerk Malik Skindar and Muhammad Saleem SDP of DMO office. They also demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that transfer of the officers were not enough as they deserved stern action for violating the merit policy as well as misconduct and mismanagement.
