QILA DIDAR SINGH -  There is abundance of illegal medical clinics and maternity homes in Qila Didar Singh city that are being run by quacks.

According to a survey report, these semiliterate medical practitioners have been playing havoc with the precious lives of the innocent and poor people in the guise of doctors. Amidst apathy of the health authorities, these so-called physicians are gaining popularity in the city with each passing day which is helping boost their illegal business. Ignorant of modern medical and sterilisation methods, these quacks conduct small operations and even child deliveries at their clinics.

Likewise, illegal medical stores in the city are selling intoxicating drugs and injections to people with impunity. The drug inspectors are also least bothered to take action against these medical stores and it seems that they have left the public at the mercy of the quacks and medical store owners. There are reports of alleged involvement of drug inspectors in the racket. The reports state that the drug inspectors allegedly have shares in monthly income of drug store owners and this is why they have turned a blind eye to the grave situation. Social and political figures appealed to the higher-ups of Health Department, Punjab Food Authority and the commissioner Gujranwala division to take stern action against the quacks and the medical stores owners.
