Rawalpindi - Rawalpindi Development Authority demolished three under-construction buildings in residential area of Maryam Gareen City on Adyala Road and sealed its booking office besides sealing another under-construction building in Fazal Town on Airport Road, a statement said.

Following directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi and DG RDA, the building control wing of the civic agency has been actively conducting operations against illegal and unauthorised commercial-cum-residential construction activities including plazas, shops, schools and other illegal land use within its jurisdiction, the statement added.

Staff members of Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering and Building Control wings carried out operation at Maryam Gareen City and Fazal Town against the unauthorised buildings.

Owners of the properties, Rai Shakeel Ahmad, Sheikh Wasif and Hammad, constructed illegal buildings in violation of Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2007, the stamen said.

The RDA spokesman Hafiz Irfan said that the DG RDA had directed the Building Control Wing to take strict action against illegal and unauthorised constructions and commercial activities.
