University girl found dead in hostel

LAHORE - A 19-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private hostel in Raiwind, police said on Thursday. The police were investigating her death.

The deceased was identified as Hifsa Irfan, a resident of Samundari, district Faisalabad. The first semester student was studying at the Superior University and she was living at a hostel near Arraiyan Village.

According to her roommate Mahak, Hifsa was busy at the laptop when she went to sleep in the afternoon. However, when she got up later and asked Hifsa to wake up for the dinner she did not respond. The girl made hue and cry and called in other students.

Then, Hifsa was rushed to a hospital located inside the Superior University where she was pronounced as brought dead. The police shifted the body to the Jinnah Hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

Police officer Faisal Shahzad told The Nation that there were no torture marks or injury on her body.

SP Sadar police division, Shahzad, also said that her family does not wish legal proceedings and they want to take the body with them after legal formalities. “The lady doctor (who examined the body) stated that there was no kind of bodily harm, or injury,” the officer said.

An official at the Raiwind police station however, said they would launch investigation into the death in the light of the autopsy reports.
