PESHAWAR At least five people were killed and three others injured when a US drone fired four missiles in Zarnirai area of North Waziristan Agency Friday evening. The drone hit close to the site where US missiles are believed to had narrowly missed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Chief Hakimullah Mehsud on Thursday. AFP adds: US drones fired four missiles at a militant compound and according to initial information at least five militants were killed, a senior security official told AFP on condition of anonymity, saying that the compound was destroyed in the attack. Two intelligence officials in the area and a local administrative official also confirmed the attack and the toll. The officials said that five US drones flew over at low altitude above the area and two of the drones descended further and fired four missiles at the militants compound destroying it completely. A second US drone attack in the space of just a few hours killed at least six people in the Bichi village of North Waziristan, officials said. At least six people, believed to be militants, were killed in a US drone attack, a senior security official told AFP. A local intelligence official and local government officials also confirmed the second attack and toll. The latest attack targeted a Taliban compound. Two missiles were fired at a militant compound in the area which borders with South Waziristan, the security official said.
