LAHORE - Leaders of PML-Q (like-Minded Group) have been assigned the task to make preparations for the next local bodies polls, learnt The Nation. Insiders in the PML-Q (Like-Minded Group) disclosed to this scribe on Friday that top hierarchy of the faction had selected Hamid Nasir Chatta, Chief of the Group, to make overall preparations for the next local polls and he would also make contacts with other like-minded political parties for seat-adjustments. While Atta Muhammad Maneka, President Punjab Like-Minded Group, will focus on the province and Maneka will use the influence of members provincial assembly who were standing behind him in the Forward Bloc for securing maximum number of slots in the next polls, the insiders said. Similarly, Senator Saleem Saifullah will look after the province of NWFP regarding the next local polls and Senator Saifullah has already started his endeavour in this regard. Secretary Information Punjab of the Like-Minded Group Mian Asif has been assigned to take care of the preparations of the Lahore chapter. He also started contacting political bigwigs in this regard and was holding meetings of his faction in several areas of the City for the next local polls, the sources said. Prominent leaders of the Like-Minded including Humuyun Akhtar Khan and Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri would play the role of think-tank for evolving several innovative policies to reach the masses for the next polls with new ideas, as the Like-Minded high command has decided to launch the campaign for the next local bodies polls on the lines of western countries local polls, disclosed the insiders. Meanwhile, PML-Q (Like-Minded Group) announced to take part in the next local bodies polls and also to hold party workers conventions from January 17-13 to prepare them for an effective mass contact movement. Mian Asif and convenor of the City chapter of the Like-Minded along with Iqbal Dar, provincial secretary general and Ch Nasir, central additional secretary general made this announcement in a media briefing at the Groups City chapter office, Green Building. He said the Group would hold party workers conventions at all the towns of the provincial metropolis, while the main function of the conventions would be held at Chauburgi on January 31 and factions leaders including Hamid Nasir Chatta, Senator Saleem Saifullah and Humuyun Akhtar Khan would participate in the main convention. Mian Asif said conventions would be held in all the nine towns of the provincial metropolis that include Samanabad Town, Ravi Town, Gulberg Town, Iqbal Town, Shalamar Town, Data Gungbuksh Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Nishtar Town and Wahga Town. He said a five-member committee had been constituted to strengthen the Like-Minded Group in the provincial metropolis, while the committee would visit various areas of the City and establish contacts with political leaders and workers. He demanded of the Punjab government to hold local bodies polls at the earliest instead of appointing administrators.
