ISLAMABAD Poor captaincy in Hobart Test put Pakistan in a pot of bother while world champions Australia post a huge total on the board as they seem well placed for a cleansweep, said former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz. Talking to TheNation, he said that it would be an uphill task for the green-shirts to avoid the follow-on in the final Test of the series. Our teams capacity is to score between 200 and 250 runs in an innings and Australian have set a mammoth total on the board for the visitors. It will be difficult for Pakistani batsmen to avoid the follow-on, as they were 94 for four at the close of day-two, he added. Sarfraz observed that only rain could save the Pakistan team from another defeat in the crucial series of this year 2010. The Kangaroos scored 519 for eight in their first innings, as it is enough for them to bundle out the Pakistan team. Mohammad Yousuf captaincy was not up to the mark, he said. Responding to a question, he said Yousuf was looking bit tired. His field placing was not perfect. He did not use the bowlers properly. One blower bold 25 overs in a day while other bold average 10 to 12 overs. He used spinners after lunch, as the situation called for the use of pacers. He did a lot of mistakes that helped hosts achieve big total, he further said. Hero of Melbourne, Sarfraz Nawaz further said that there was no strategy of team management for the Hobart Test but every one was busy in issuing unnecessary statements. This was erroneous decision to make four changes in the side simultaneously. Maximum, a couple of changes should be made in the last elevens for Hobart fixture. Four changes mean the selection committee is not doing its job accurately, he added. Replying to a question, the former cricketer said that Faisal Iqbal should be the part of the team. It is not fair to replace Khurram Manzoor with Faisal Iqbal. Everyone is laughing at us owing to decisions of the team management. High ups should take notice of these mismanagements, he said. Pakistan team need a planner not a coach. A coach cannot change the bowling action or batting style of a player during the overseas trip. The basic job of coach is to make strategies for the team after analysing the opponent side. National coach should concentrate his job to get positive results from the players, he concluded.
