Dry, cold weather likely

LAHORE The City received light rain on Saturday, increasing chill in weather during the daytime by decreasing maximum temperature. The rains, though light, and winds caused decrease in the maximum temperature by 3.7 degree Celsius, ending up at 16.3 C on Saturday. The minimum temperature in the City was recorded 07 C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 100 percent which decreased to 58 C in the evening. According to the experts, a trough of westerly wave is still affecting extreme northern parts of the country that can give rains and snowfall at isolated places of upper Khyber PK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country including the City during the next couple of days. Shallow to moderate foggy conditions are likely to prevail over the plains of Punjab. On Saturday, Balakot received 27 mm rain, Dir 18 mm, Kakul and Garhi Dupatta 15 mm each, Murree 13 mm, Saidu Sharif and Lower Dir 11 mm each, Bunji 09 mm, Islamabad and Rawlakot 08 mm each, Chitral, Parachinar and Mirkhani 06 mm each, Kotli 05 mm, Mangla and Chilas 03 mm each, Drosh 01 mm while Lahore, hunza, Skardu, Mandi Bahauddin and Sialkot received traces of rain.
