LAHORE A 30-year-old man was allegedly tortured to death in Kahna police custody on Saturday, police sources said. The deceased was later identified as Mohammad Saleem, son of Mohammad Aslam and resident of Old Kahna. The family members claimed Sub-Inspector Mohammad Arshad along with a good number of police contingents raided the home of the deceased here on Thursday and apprehended him. The close relatives of the victim family said the SI openly dragged him besides slapping on his face on the same day and threatened the family to avoid visiting the police station. They alleged the sub-inspector and SHO concerned have personal grudge with the deceased and ultimately they tortured him to death. Kahna police, however, said the deceased was a proclaimed offender (PO) in two cases including 7/10 under section 457/380 and 23/10 under section 399/402 of PPC. They said police raided his home but he managed to flee from his home. They said someone phoned the police on Saturday and informed about the body lying in area of Old Kahna. The body was identified of Mohammad Saleem.
