Teresa Scanlan of Nebraska has won the Miss America crown, besting 52 other hopefuls at Saturday's event in Las Vegas, U.S. media reported on Sunday. The 17-year-old Gerig resident and Scottsbluff High School student became the youngest winner of the Miss America crown in 90 years. She won a $50,000 scholarship and a yearlong reign as Miss America, the U.S. media reported. Scanlan hopes to attend law school, become a judge and eventually a politician, according to the Miss America website. Scanlan succeeds last year's winner, Caressa Cameron from Virginia. The 22-year-old student of Virginia Commonwealth University is the National Goodwill Ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network, the U.S. media reported.
