QUETTA - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that if the government was truly democratic, it would have held elections by now.
During his address in Quetta, Imran Khan said had the current government came into power through the people and not the NRO, the elections would have been held.
Quoting the Supreme Court's earlier statement about Yousuf Raza Gilani being a ‘dishonest person’, the PTI chief said that the prime minister was ‘shameless’.
If Gilani had some shame, he would have held the elections now, but he had no shame, Imran said. The PTI chairman added that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should resign from the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats if it considered government was destroying the country.
Predicting that no resignation would be submitted, Imran said the PPP and PML-N were not ‘ideological parties’ and that majority of their members were ‘opportunists’.
"I predict that they will not resign from the Punjab Assembly, even if they resign from the National Assembly."
