LAHORE – A man set her wife ablaze over some domestic dispute here in Shahdara area, police said on Friday.
Parents of the woman told the police that resident of Mujahid Colony, Muhammad Amin, set his wife on fire. Shumaila was rushed to the Mayo Hospital by local residents, where her condition was reported to be critical till filing of this report. The couple used to exchange harsh words over domestic issues. The police have registered the case against the husband on the complaint of the victim and are investigating.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old disabled woman was burnt to death during fire, which erupted in her house in Sanda area after Saturday midnight, police and rescue workers said. Resident of Dhoop Sari, Sumera Bibi, was alone at the house when the fire broke out, shortly after a burning candle fall on the bed. The family members left the house to attend the annual Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, also known as Data Gunj Bukhsh.
Rescue workers said that the fire engulfed the entire bedroom within no time while disable woman succumbed to injuries as she was unable to move. Valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees were also reduced to ashes. On Sunday afternoon, the woman was buried at a local graveyard amid tears.
