MDA forms teams to visit kachi abadies

MULTAN - In order to give at the spot ownership rights to the deserving dwellers of kachi abadis (slums), the Multan Development Authority (MDA) has formed three mobile teams here on Saturday. Sources said that the teams were constituted on a special directive of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, which would visit all slums and do entire legal and paper work on the spot.
Meanwhile, chairing a meeting of MDA officials, the Director General of the authority Mumtaz Qureshi said that all out efforts would be made to offer ownership rights to the residents of kachi abadis. He directed the concerned officials to announce their arrival in a certain area through loudspeakers of masjids and consult notables of the area for accomplishing paper work. He further asked them to issue challan forms for development expenditures at the spot.
He warned the officials that the commissioner and DCO would carry out surprise visits of different areas to monitor ownership allotment process and strict action would be taken against those, who would be found guilty of negligence. He asked them to accomplish entire process with utmost honesty and transparency, hurling a warning that strict action would be launched against the officials, if any complaint was received.
