HAFIZABAD - Federal Minister for Works Ch Liaquat Abbas Bhatti has said that the government has been striving for providing basic amenities to the masses at their doorstep particularly in remote areas and has spent billions of rupees on the development of infrastructure in the country.

He was talking to different delegations at Pindi Bhattian here the other day.

He said that the government had decided to develop backward areas at par with the urban areas so that maximum facilities could be provided to the masses.

He said that the government had introduced various revolutionary steps including Benazir Income Support Programme for alleviating poverty. A sum of Rs70 billion had been distributed among the poverty-stricken masses over the past four years, he added.

He said that he was fully aware of the problems of the people of his constituency (NA-103) and was making all-out efforts to resolve them, adding that he provided Sui gas facility to the people in 260 villages at a cost of Rs2 billion. He assured that he would provide electricity and Sui gas to the remaining villages during the next few months.

GOVERNOR RULE APPRECIATED: President Hussain Alliance Syed Hussain Ali Shah, Malik Abid Ali, Zawar Liaquat Ali Khannu, Syed Ghulzar Hussain Shirazi of different Shia organizations have appreciated imposition Governor Rule in Blochistan. They expressed the hope that the Governor would take all possible steps to prevent target killing and to create sectarian harmony and peaceful atmosphere for creating sense of security in Blochistan.

ACE books former DHQ hospital MS: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) have registered a case against former DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Aslam and Senior Clerk Zulfiqar Ali on the charge of allegedly misappropriating government funds during his posting in the hospital.

The ACE had received a complaint against the accused. The ACE conducted an inquiry and the allegations were found correct. On the basis of findings of the inquiry, the ACE have registered a case against the accused. However, no arrest has been made.
