LAHORE – As the already heighten political scenario of the country was stirred up by the SC ruling of the rental power project case, the PML-Q might turn out as the most dependable ally of the PPP and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi could be named as the premier.

According to sources, PML-Q senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi who was in Saudi Arabia for performing Umra has been called back by the party, as the ruling alliance could give him the additional task of the prime minister.

The two allies of the PPP from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh sought constitutional position of the prime minister after the orders of the Supreme Court.

While another partner in the coalition, the PML-Q advised the PPP avoid collision with the SC, keeping in view Dr Tahirul Qadri’s marchers in Islamabad and Imran Khan’s warning of the PTI long march.

Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat, senior PML-Q leader, taking a strong position against the accused said, “Thieves of the national kitty will be held accountable at last, which helps bringing back the plundered wealth of the nation.”

He added that the arrest of the 16 accused in the rental power case would also set an example that nobody was above the law, no matter what position he holds.

However, most of the senior PML-Q leaders distanced themselves for commenting over the Supreme Court orders.

Sources in the PML-Q claimed that party’s high command had advised the PPP stay away from confrontation with any state institution and obey the superior judiciary orders without any hesitation.

According to sources, senior PML-Q leaders believed that the ruling alliance could get stuck in a serious problem near the elections by delaying implementation on Supreme Court orders.

They opinioned that Dr Tahirul Qadri had already camped in the federal capital, while Imran Khan also warned of another long march if the government fails to respond to PTI’s seven point demands, which includes implementation of the apex court orders without any delay.

Haider Abbas Rizvi, senior MQM leader said, “We are observing the situation seriously, besides we sought constitutional and legal position of the prime minister from our experts after the Supreme Courtorders”.

The MQM leadership, however,did not declare its stance about the arrest orders of the 16 accused in the rental power case, which includes the PM on top.

Senator Haji Addel Khan, senior leader of the ANP said, “We are consulting our constitutional experts over the matter after the orders of the Supreme Court on rental power case.”

He said that the ANP and other partners of the ruling coalition had always acted upon the orders of the Supreme Court and would do so in the future.

He added that his party and the PPP had rendered many sacrifices for the democracy and the ANP would not allow a coup d'état against the democratic process.
