Railways inaugurates Night Coach Express

LAHORE – The Pakistan Railways General Manager on Tuesday inaugurated Night Coach Express with private-public partnership.
It is the third train, the Railways outsourced after Business and Shalimar expresses. The train will run between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad and Multan and cover the distance between the two provincial capitals in 18 hours.
The Railways GM Junaid Qureshi, speaking on occasion, vowed to continue public-private partnership as he believed the trend was adopted throughout the world and could be beneficial for the public utility. In coming days, the rail coaches between Lahore and Rawalpindi and some trains in freight sectors would also be privatised, he added.
The Railways Police tightened security on the occasion due to expected arrival of the Railways Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour. The minister, however, could not reach due to rise in political temperature in Islamabad.
