Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI  – The city administration on Tuesday imposed Section 144 for two days (Jan 15 and 16) to maintain law and order situation in the district and avoid any untoward incident.The City Administrator Saqib Zafar, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under section 144 Cr PC, has banned assembly of five or more persons at public places, saying that certain unscrupulous elements taking advantage of the long march by Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran intent to breach the law and order situation in the district and there was a likelihood of extensive damage to the lives of general public and property. “This order shall take effect forthwith and will remain in force for a period of two days (January 15 and 16) and any contravention of this order shall be punishable under section 188 PPC,” said the order issued by the city administrator.Meanwhile, Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has issued stay order against recruitment of new teachers in Cantt garrison schools.Justice Ali Baqir Naqvi of the court issued the order on the petition against not regularizing 1,600 honourary male and female teachers and non-teaching contract staff serving throughout Pakistan. The judge also issued notices to the secretary defence, secretary establishment division, secretary finance and director FGEI to appear before court on February 12  to submit their replies in the case. The contract teachers, in the petition, prayed that contract employees of the educational institutions be regularized. 

The teachers have been serving for last 12 to 14 years but the authorities had announced to recruit new teachers instead of regularising the contract teachers, the teachers said.
