KARACHI - A boy on late Tuesday night jumped down from the 6th floor of a residential apartment in Clifton area of Karachi.
His parents put blame on the employer. They said the employer tortured the child and threw him forcibly from the building.
According to medicolegal officer Dr Manzoor, a boy Haresh, 10, was brought to the Jinnah Hospital on Tuesday night. He sustained injuries on his head and other parts of the body.
However, the doctor said the boy suffered injuries but there was no sign of torture found on his body. Meanwhile, Clifton SSP Muhammad Nadeem confirmed that the boy was employed at the home of Dr Muneer and his wife, who originally belonged to Jacobabad and are currently living in an apartment in Clifton.
The boy in his statement to the police said his employer Dr Muneer and his wife tortured and threw him from the 6th floor of the apartment. After the statement of the boy, the police have taken Dr Muneer into custody.
On the other side, Dr Muneer denied the allegation, saying at least Rs150,000 (Rs 0.15 million) was stolen from his house and later his servant Hareesh admitted his alleged crime. He said they have proofs of video recording of the boy stealing the amount from their house, so they locked him in the room. Denying torturing the boy, he said the boy jumped down because of fear.
However, Sajan Bhat, uncle of the boy, said Dr Muneer, employer of his nephew, tortured and threw the boy from the 6th floor. He alleged that the employer locked the boy in the room for few days and did not even give him food and water. Later, he threw him from the building.
