ISLAMABAD - PPA here on Wednesday termed the current price hike as temporary due to short supply, adding the prices would come down within two weeks. “The prices of the poultry has gone up due to high demand and short supply as the farmers have reduced production for losses and the situation would improve within 10-15 days time”, Dr Aslam, Chairman of PPA told APP here. He said that 30 percent of the poultry forms are closed as the farmers are not getting due prices of their products.
The chairman PPA said that due to ban on the exports of poultry products the farmers were not enhancing their production with full capacity and also not getting proper prices.
He further said that due to marriage season, the demand for the poultry production has also increased and that was also one of the reasons for increase in the prices of the poultry products.
He added that at poultry farms, the chicken was available for Rs130 per kilogram but due to transportation costs the prices shoot up to Rs165 per kilogram.
“If government allows export of poultry products, the farmers would enhance their production and due to surplus production in the country, the rates of the poultry products would also reduced”, he observed.
