ISLAMABAD - Reiterating the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan would continue to support homegrown solution to Afghan imbroglio.
Talking to media here on Wednesday Sartaj Aziz stressed the need for improving border management jointly by Pakistan and Afghan governments to effectively check militants on both sides of Pak-Afghan border.
To a question Sartaj Aziz said that both the states have to adopt the policy of reconciliation and all those militant groups, which want to sit with governments on negotiation table should be engaged in dialogue to achieve lasting peace in the region.
He once again made it loud and clear that Pakistan was committed to policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and hoped that the other states in the region would also follow the same policy and help Afghanistan sort of its internal problems.
He said that a strong and stable Afghanistan was in the best interests of Pakistan and said that it was his considered view that people of Afghanistan have the key to the problems facing the war-torn country.
To a question about the trial of former Army chief Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, the advisor said that the matter was in the court of law so he would not comment on it. However, he refuted the impression of any external pressure on the government in this regard and made it clear that law would take its course and courts would decide the fate of former general.
